Singin' In The Rain...

RainThe Yankees game scheduled for tonight, April the 25th, has been postponed due to rainy conditions in the Bronx, New York.
No scheduled make up has been announced and it won't be a double header tomorrow.
This doesn't change the starters for tomorrow night's Yankees - Blue Jays game as Phil Hughes will still make his scheduled debut as a Yankees starting pitcher and will match up against right hander Josh Towers, who is making his 3rd start of the season for the Blue Jays.
Towers comes into the game with a record of 1 and 2 and an ERA of 3.44 with 14 strike outs in 18 and a third innings pitched this season.
In his most recent start at Baltimore this past Saturday --- Towers allowed 5 runs (4 of the 5 were earned) on 9 hits in 5 innings pitched.
Hegave up five runs three walks.
The thirty year old Oxnard Junior College product from Port Hueneme, California is not a power pitcher and his soft-tossing control game will be severely tested by a Yankees lineup without any holes.
He likes to nibble and run himself into deep counts at times to give the opposing hitter a chance to get himself out.
That might not get him too far against the Yankees line up.
I'm sure that all the Yankees could use a day off to relax and refresh themselves both mentally as well as physically.
The bullpen, I'm sure, must be very happy with a rest day.
This also changes the projected pitching match ups for the Yankees - Red Sox series at Yankee stadium tomorrow.Hugh_1
Before the rain out it was projected to be Daisuke Matsuzka against Jeff Karstens on Friday, Tim Wakefield against Kei Igawa on Saturday, and then Julian Tavarez against Chien Ming Wang on Sunday.
Now it's set to be Daisuke Matsuzka against Andy Pettitte on Friday, either Jeff Karstens or Kei Igawa versus Tim Wakefield on Saturday (that is still being mulled over by Joe Torre), and then Julian Tavarez against Chien Ming Wang on Sunday.
So that's a more favorable set up for the Yankees as they get their two most dependable pitchers in the series in the form of Pettitte and Wang.

I wonder how this effects the Texas series that I'll be going to next week? Moose was supposed to start Wednesday.
I wonder if they'll move him to either Monday or Thursday now and have Hughes start Tuesday and then Pettitte Wednesday and then Moose on Thursday?
Either way, it looks like I may see Hughes start one of the three games that I will be attending next week  and that I may be guaranteed a Moose start and either a Pettitte or a Hughes start--- So, I am excited by that !

Until tomorrow,

LETS GO YANKEES !

A very favorable set up for us!
GO YANKEES!

Rick

I just hope and pray that lil' Phil Hughes lives up to the billing he's gotten so far?

I'm pretty pysched for tomorrow. I think it's going to be pretty tough for Hughes to live up to the hype, but I think he's going to coem up huge.

I sorta think so too.
It's against Towers and so hopefully the Yankees will give him plenty of run support in the early going.

I'm also psyched that I may get the chance to watch him pitch here in Texas next week !

The Yankees website has A.J. Burnett posted as the starter for tomorrow. If so, it will be two pitchers throwing a lot of heat in the Bronx.

The rain-out did the Yankees some favors, particularly resting their beleaguered bullpen another day, but also allowing Torre to realign the rotation for the series against Boston, and to give Jeter's sore thigh another day to rest after the beaning last night.

I hope you get to see him, Michael. That would mean that he threw a good opening start, and it would no doubt be a memorable moment for you.

Go Yankees!

Hmmmm....
I thought that is what I heard on the pregame show today on YES, But I just looked at it on the Yankees website and it does still have Burnett.

I was sort of hoping for Towers because I think we would hit him better than A.J.

Lets see Dice K vs Andy.

Who is your all time favorite Yankee?

http://coralrae.mlblogs.com

My all time favorite Yankee would probably be Mickey Mantle.
But that's such a hard question to have to give a one person answer for.

I have so many current and former favorites.

On the current team it would be any of the four long standing Yankees : Pettitte, Mo, Derek, or Jorge.

I also really like Hideki Matsui very much.

I love his respect for the game and his attitude.

In some ways he reminds me a lot of Paul ONeill.

(Just without the busting up of the water coolers).

He's such respected and consistent presence in the out field.
