Three Yankee Amigos

3The New York Yankees won their game last night by a score of 7 to 2  over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Bronx to extend their winning streak to 8 in a row. Mike Mussina was fantastic as used 101 pitches to strike out 7 batters through 7 and two thirds innings in the ballgame to pick up his third win of the season and to bring his win percentage back up to .500. He was the beneficiary of some good defense and some big home runs as Jorge Posada connected for his 8th home run of the year in the 2nd inning off of Livan Hernandez, Alex Rodriguez hit his league leading 25th home run off of Livan Hernandez in the 3rd inning, and Hideki Matsui hit his 4th home run of the season off of Hernandez in the 4th inning (a three run blast). In three innings (innings two thru four) three different Yankees hit three different home runs and added 6 RBI's to the Yankee scoreboard.
The Yankees now move to one game above .500 and with the Red Sox losing their game to Colorado the Yankees move to 8.5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East.
Now, no matter what happens in the 3rd game of the three game set --- the Yankees are guaranteed the series win after taking the first two.
Now the Yankees go for two games above .500 and for a series sweep over the Diamondbacks.
Good baseball is once again being played in the Bronx.
